Last week I was out each day leading a Trail Running Camp for http://www.icicleUK.com, on routes around the Chamonix region. The week had amazing weather, with not even one spot of rain all week. Every day we ran on average a half marathon in distance, with about 1000m of height gain. It was a great week, where we covered good distances, and explored every bit of the region.
Our trail running routes were as follows (all on foot, no cable cars!)…
Day 1: Chamonix to Montenvers, Le Signal then across to Plan d’Aiguille and down.
Day 2: Chamonix to Planpraz, Flegere, Mont Roc, Argentiere, Le Praz, Chamonix.
Day 3: Chamonix to Lavencher, Argentiere, Le Planet, Le Tour, and Vallorcine.
Day 4: Chamonix to Gaillands, Merlet, Christ Roi, Le Betty, Montvautier, Servoz.
Day 5: Planpraz to Col du Brevent, Pont Arleve, Moede Anterne, Ayeres, Servoz.
A great week was had by all, and for me it was good to keep the training for the UTMB ticking over. I even took Maximus (my dog) on day 3, so that kept him happy too. I chose this photo above for the blog, as the colours are really vivid, and Kate in her red top stands out well against the path snaking through the forest on the way up to Merlet.
