Survived the UTMB CCC race!

This year the North Face Ultra Trail du Mont Blanc CCC race from Courmayeur to Champex and Chamonix was perfect conditions for fish and Brits – wet and cold! It is a mountain trail race that is 98.5km long, with 5600m of height gain. I started in the rain in Courmayeur at 10am on Friday, and finished just over 20 hours later at just gone 6am in Chamonix. Here I am with Sarah at the finish. I came 361 out of 2000 runners, though only about 400 finished due to being cut off due to the harsh weather conditions and abandoning. Key memories; mud, rain, rain, puddles, stones, falling, rain, soup, rain, head torches, forests, rain, rain, villages, faces, soup, puddles, rain, fog, falling, rain, finish! Brilliant race, and really amazingly supported. A great experience. I had dreamed of running this race for years, and was so happy to finish. Anyway, back to guiding now, and led a group the length of the Aiguilles Rouges yesterday, so clearly the legs are recovered OK.
