Lakes Fell Running

I’ve been based in the Lake District for a few weeks now, and the running training is going well. The photo above was taken running the Fairfield horseshoe last weekend, in deep snow. It was a perfect day out, starting off breaking through the inversion sea of clouds that filled the valley floor, and getting into the snow as we ascended the fells. In the drifts, the snow was well over knee deep, which made the running interesting.

Over the last week, I’ve had a few good days out, running the Wansfell loop, Loughrigg circuit, and Langdale horseshoe. Next weekend is the Grizedale Ultra-marathon, so I need to get a few good training runs in over the next few days, then take it a bit easier before the race.

For those wanting to join others for a weekend of coaching on fell running, I’m leading the Icicle Intro Fell Running weekend on 1-2 December. Full details of this are at; http://www.icicle-mountaineering.ltd.uk/lake+district+fell+running+weekends.html, and cost just £99.
